Recently I have been considering if what is really happening is ... that we are all being called to heal 'back to being ordinary’ and there is actually nothing more we need do than be that.
The day when we feel true peace being invisible might be when we are finally shine our light at its brightest and most seen.
To most of us the idea of being ‘ordinary’ is just so painful.
For some it can be a lives work trying to avoid this.
We are constantly urged to ‘make something of ourselves or to make a difference by doing something extra-ordinary and to not waste our life’.
But what if the striving, the action plans, the achievements in an attempt to 'be someone', to 'be Extra-ordinary' are the only bits that ARE the 'waste of life'.
Society puts such a pressure on us to become ‘extra-ordinary’ and we have become so distracted, driven by a need to 'find our outstanding purpose' that we have completely missed the point.
The less we try to 'become' ourselves then the more we ARE ourselves and ARE OUR PURPOSE.
Just BEING US is our purpose and the work is in removing the layers that we have hidden ourselves under by trying too hard to 'become ourselves'.
It is only when we are ALL truly happy to JUST be ‘ordinary’ and to NOT ‘stand out’ ... that we will then each be free to become or rather to 'reveal' the extra-ordinary shiny selves that we each already are and to shine more brightly than we could ever have imagined from our previous ‘extra-ordinary’ stance.
Is ‘waking up’ really about having the courage to work through the stuff that stands in the way of us being all that we see as Ordinary and really diving into and through the pain of becoming ‘no -one’, the pain of perceived ‘blandness’. Where no external accreditation gives us our value or meaning.
It is from that place that we are then free, having removed our masks and false identities, to truly be our light, un-shadowed at last by the parts that needed to be the ‘brightest’, needed to achieve excellence, needed to force a ‘meaningful life’..... and then to prove this to others.
I wonder if the more ‘extra-ordinariness’ a person has achieved within the old paradigm the more intense their journey of healing ‘back to ordinary’ might be.
Stripping off the layers until all can stand equal and shining freely in their ‘extra-Ordinarily Ordinariness ’.
It is in all of us becoming ordinary that we will harmonise and the world can heal.
Where no ONE persons sound is ever ‘too loud or too quiet’.
The gift of ordinariness - is that WE ALREADY ARE all we ever need to be.
